The equipment is being used to landscape the gardens and private grounds of the chateau, which belongs to a famous Russian billionaire (clue: he owns a well know British football club….)

Built in 1927 for an English aristocrat, the chateau became the residence of the Duke of Windsor, the former King Edward VIII.  After Edward VIII abdicated the throne in 1936, he left England to marry Wallace Simpson.  Huge sums were spent on the chateau to recreate the conditions that the former king had become accustomed to in royal life in England. The Duke and Duchess hosted glittering receptions, attended by royalty and politicians, including Winston Churchill. In the 1970′s a terrible fire swept through the building and grounds and, after many years of neglect, the chateau has recently been restored to it’s former glory.

Autumn / Winter 2011 – Doing our bit to help Santa !

Working in collaboration with our parent company – E. H. Smith Ltd – one of the UK’s largest privately owned builders’ merchants, we sent three complete truck loads of construction materials to Lapland. Our customer, a leading travel specialist, organizes family holidays to see Santa and the spectacular Northern Lights, over 2000 miles away in the in the frozen north of Finland. Our client was refurbishing their hotel and restaurant facilities and, as you can imagine, in such a wild, remote area, it’s not so easy to pop down to your local DIY store!  We managed to safely deliver everything – including the kitchen sink!

The vintage aeroplane was an early 20th century Ryan monoplane which is to be returned to its former glory by a Midlands based aircraft enthusiast. The glider was shipped on a RoRo service from England to the USA for a British pilot who was keen to experience the wide open skies of North America, and we have just shipped a small Cessna from Dubai, via the UK to mid-western France , where the owner has a new home on a converted airfield and can taxi his plane from his own driveway onto the runway and into the blue…
